AGC Organic Agro Farm believes in revolutionizing agriculture and giving practical knowledge about the new techniques in natural farming.
A six acres green space that houses a Miniature Forest, an Ayurvedic Garden, a Greenhouse for vegetables, a kids theme park, and a splendid bonsai studio to introduce the concept of organic farming to school and college student, AGC Organic Agro Farm at Taran Taran Road is a pleasant sight for the sore eyes and fresh breathe for lungs. “The AGC Agro Farm is practically a guided tour to learn new techniques in natural farming,” says Hon’ble Madam Ragini Sharma (Director Finance, AGC).
She further shares that the farm has over 300 Bonsai plants. The aesthetic corners of the farm come in the form of a Cacti Garden and Bonsai Studio. The crops which are produced at the farm using natural techniques are Black Wheat, five species of Mushrooms, Black Rice, all types of millets, and many more. Dr. S.M. Bhatt (Professor, Department of Agriculture, AGC) says, “The future of gardening, as well as farming, must ensure the sustainability aspect with maximum output using limited natural resources. We have tried to create a space that represents a balanced ecosystem and is self-sustainable.”
AGC sets up a learning group for students as well as for farmers, as the short-term garden-based learning programs are running for everyone. At AGC, the farm has several standout features that include a Mini Forest, with over 100 species of native indigenous plants, including Jamun, Mulberry, Peepal, Mango, and Bel. Aesthetics like a Miniature Bridge, Huts, and Mud Houses with figurines festoon the forest as it hosts kids for a garden learning program, masking them familiar with natural farming techniques.
Another striking feature is the Ayurvedic Garden that grows various verities of native medicinal plants and techniques to grow and create terrace farms and gardens, through aquaporin nursery. The farm uses a Fish Water Drip Irrigation System to grow leafy vegetables like lettuce, cherry, tomatoes, and strawberries using coconut husk in planters and organic manure.
This is an initiative for the students which will let them know more about various farming techniques and will turn them towards an organic life.
