RENEWABLE ENERGY LABORATORY

Dr. Amit Sarin, Professor and Head, Department of Applied Sciences (Physics Group) under the aegis of Amritsar College of Engineering & Technology, has won the young scientist project worth Rs. 27 lakh from the Science & Engineering Research Board, a statutory body under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi.


The project is sanctioned under the DST fast track young scientist scheme. The objective of the project is to improve the properties of biodiesel. By this project, “Renewable Energy Laboratory” has been established. The major research apparatus “892 Professional Rancimat” has been procured through this project to study the oxidation stability of biofuels. The energy is the need of the day and through this project research related to energy science will be conducted and Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology will achieve new milestones in this field also.


The apparatus “892 Professional Rancimat” can also be used to study the oxidation stability of oils, fats, biodegradable lubricating oil and different solid foodstuffs. Thus this apparatus can be very useful for researchers and FMCG industry.
